What an Eye Doctor Does During an Eye Exam

In an eye exam, our Las Vegas eye doctors will start off by asking you about any vision changes or concerns you have. The eye exam is the place to discuss all of your eye care needs, so use the time to bring up any concerns you may have. Then we will examine your eyes and perform simple tests that check your visual acuity, eye muscles, and more. You might think that we do all this just to adjust your prescription, but there are many things the eyes tell us about your overall health.

A basic eye exam can show early indicators of medical conditions, including diabetes, as well as show evidence of eye diseases like glaucoma. If we see anything in your eye exam that requires further testing, we will perform it at this time. In some cases, we may need to dilate the eyes for a glaucoma check. This can affect your ability to drive home after the exam. If we find evidence of a health condition that is not related to the eye (like diabetes) we will share this with you.

At the end of the exam, we will go over any findings and discuss ways to maintain your eye health. Our Las Vegas eye doctors have more than 30 years of combined experience in the optometry field, so you can trust us to take great care of your eyes.

Of course, if we need to update your prescription for visual acuity, we will do this at the end of your eye exam. We can then assist you in finding glasses or ordering the right pair of contacts.

When is the last time you had your eyes checked?
